Newsletter - November 2005

Although it has been quite mild for November, recent gales and rain remind us that whiter is here, and sunny (or in some cases not so sunny!) days on the croquet lawns seem a long time past. However we have had some good times this season, and as well as our usual enjoyable social events, we have again entertained outside groups like our friends from the 'Old Plymptonions', and St.Andrew's Church.

Pegging Out Party

Our thanks to the gentlemen who by tradition waited on the Ladies and provided a lovely tea. The Committee would also like to express their appreciation to all who attended, and to those who returned slips offering to help in some way. Even if you are not hi a position to offer practical help it is an encouragement to the organisers and committee if you can attend Social events which for the past year or so have not been so well supported. While we have had some response to our plea for more help we still do not have a Chairman for next year. PLEASE keep this in mind over the winter months and if you can still offer help in any way it is NOT TOO LATE to return your slip!

Croquet Association Diploma

This award is presented by the C.A. to stalwarts, not necessarily players, who work hard to keep clubs going and give them their character. We were delighted when our recommendation was accepted and Margaret Roberts was awarded the diploma, although sadly she was not well enough to attend the Pegging Out Party to accept it. However we congratulate her, and thank her for the years of hard work that she has put in to make the Social side of the club the success that it is. Margaret is always the first to say that she could not do this without the support of her dedicated team of helpers and we thank them too.
