Newsletter - October 2004

Can it really be October again, and the end of another season. How time flies! Soon the clocks will go back and the long dark evenings are with us. Time to sweep up the leaves, plant the Spring bulbs, reminisce about the events of this year, and look forward to getting out on the lawns again in April. Hopefully next Season will bring some more sunshine, sadly this year it has been more a case of umbrellas than sunshades!

Looking Back

An keeping with Club tradition, we have had many enjoyable social events, and our grateful thanks once again to Margaret and her faithful team of helpers for their excellent lunches and teas.

We were again delighted to welcome our friends from the 'Old Plymptonians' for a day, and we also had a great evening with a group from St. Andrew's Church which finished with a much enjoyed barbecue.

Well done everyone, and especially to those playing for the first time, and to the Intermediate Team for reaching the Final.

This year we have again played a friendly match against Budleigh Salterton, and for the first time, three of our members played a friendly match against the newly formed Cornwall Club. We were lucky to win on each occasion. We hope to keep our links with both of these clubs, and would like to take this opportunity to wish Cornwall 'Good Luck' for the future.

Looking Forward

Work has already begun on preparing the lawns for next year, and in the Spring we shall be looking for help at the Clubhouse painting, cleaning etc.
